Many people make the claim that a healthy person cannot get cancer – that cancer develops because the body is already in a state of ill health. A healthy body is alkaline (high pH levels) in its tissues and an unhealthy body is acidic (low pH levels).
Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate)
One approach to curing cancer by raising pH levels, originally promoted by an Appalachian folk healer in the 1930s, is to…
heat one part of baking soda with three parts of pure maple syrup (or some prefer organic blackstrap molasses) for five minutes, stirring briskly. When this mixture is consumed, the theory is that the cancer cells suck up the glucose along with the baking soda that is bound to it. The sudden increased alkalinity in the cell kills it. Some critics point out, however, that maple syrup cannot chemically bind with sodium bicarbonate. However, Bill Henderson, who has experimented on himself, says he experienced clear and indeed powerful demonstrations that this mix had a healthy impact on his bowel movements. Whether it also has an anti-cancer effect is still very much in the realm of anecdote and folklore – but there are animal studies showing that sodium bicarbonate inhibits metastases – so slowing down if not reversing the spread of cancer. This is not a stand-alone cancer therapy but it is one that can cheaply and usefully be followed.
The one issue with bicarbonate is that, because of its alkalinity, it should not be taken within a couple of hours of a meal as it will have a negative impact on the stomach acids needed to digest food. It is also a very good sleep aid when taken before going to bed (recommended dose: one eighth of a teaspoon in water)
“Sodium bicarbonate happens to be one of our most useful medicines treating as it does the basic acid-alkaline axis of human physiology. Sodium bicarbonate is a “nothing-to-lose-everything-to-gain” treatment for cancer as well as the general acid conditions behind a host of modern diseases.” – Dr Mark Sircus
I discuss other ways of achieving higher pH levels in The Cancer Survivor’s Bible.
